EQ3 is a leading furniture company specialized in the design, development, manufacturing and retail of modern furniture and accessories. We are currently expanding our Product Development team, looking for a passionate, detail oriented, disciplined and highly motivated person with a design, engineering or business background, for the full-time position of Project Owner / Product Developer, at our Head Office located at 70 Lexington Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Strong sensibilities in business, architecture, art, fashion and culture are essential for the fulfillment of this roll. In this position you will be responsible for coordinating the product development of a multidisciplinary product line from design brief to introduction. The key parameters of the product line are smart and quick assembly ideally with no tools required, high durability and longevity suitable for online and retail channels.

  • Able to work as part of a team as well as with little supervision
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS office, AutoCAD, Adobe suite, 3D modelling and rendering software such as Solidworks, Google SketchUp, are assets
  • Post graduate degree is an asset

Duties include

  • Conduct thorough market research on social media outlets and online; Visit trade shows and retail stores,
  • Analyze current product range, create development plans for existing and new product collections that are smart and easy to assemble and are highly durable 20+ year shelf life
  • Develop cross category product range using shared components that achieve a maximum amount of unique sku's while keeping inventory levels at a minimum
  • Create design briefs and manage design processes working with internal and external designers
  • Set project development targets individually and in collaboration with development and R&D teams, and meet deadlines
  • Maximize speed to market while assuring product quality and retail targets
  • Communicate and travel to domestic and overseas suppliers to request quotations, develop and review samples and place orders
  • Test products in select markets and collect customer feedback to continuously improve product collections, overcome delivery and logistical constraints
  • Research innovative materials and manufacturing techniques
  • Create product drawings in AutoCAD and Solidworks and work closely with CAD technicians to produce accurate product drawings and specifications
