EQ3 is a leading furniture company specialized in the design, development, manufacturing and retail of modern furnishings. We are currently expanding our Product Development team, looking for a passionate, detail oriented, disciplined and highly motivated person with a design background, for the full time position of Product Development Coordinator, at our Head Office located at 70 Lexington Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Strong sensibilities in architecture, art, fashion and culture are essential for the fulfillment of this roll. In this position you will be responsible for supporting Product Category Managers in the product development process from design brief to retail introduction. You will be responsible for key elements of the development process and the effective coordination, maintenance and communication of product information to key departments.

Skills and abilities required

  • Excellent understanding of product design and manufacturing processes
  • Able to manage creative and commercial business processes   
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and listening skills
  • Self-motivated, with a very positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and multi-tasking
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS office, AutoCAD, Adobe suite, 3D rendering software such as Solid works, Google Sketch Up, etc.
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as with little supervision
  • Proven problem-solving ability
  • Undergraduate Degree in design

Duties include

Product set up and information management

  • Coordinate new sku number assignment and descriptor names
  • Post and maintain product specification sheets on intranet (casegoods, accessories, upholstery)
  • Timely and effectively communicate product information to key stakeholders
  • Assist in the creation of product presentation documents
  • Responsible for addressing product knowledge requests from other departments
  • Organize product training sessions
  • Communicate sample and product photography

Product development

  • Communicate and collaborate with Regional Offices on the development of upholstery components and case good and accessory projects as necessary
  • Work with frame technician and designers in order to derive and assure accurate technical drawings
  • Responsible for fabric testing process
  • Update and maintain upholstery cover specifications and communicate to key departments
  • Derive component and product first pricing and margins using pricing tool
  • Assist in product set up for product review meetings
